In the shale-rich areas of western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio, an oil boom was being birthed in the late 19th century. Oil and natural gas are often found together in the same areas and that proximity was what led to the first if the gas powered engines to produce Midwest oil like Quakerstate and Pennzoil. Machines like these seen in the photo are becoming more rare and Outside of Pennsylvania, there are fewer and fewer. There won't be too many of these beauties laying around the countryside for much longer.
Looking further, I believe that this is a later engine model. Still over 100 years old.
